Regular practices

Our regular Sunday practices are attended by Khenpo Ngawang Dhamchoe when he is in Sydney.

The current programme is below. You are very welcome to attend all sessions. Some practices are for initiates only (if you are unsure about the pre-requisite empowerment, please email info@drogmi.org for details).

Meditation practices

Our regular meditation practices are open to everyone.

  • Shamatha meditation practice
    Sundays, 10.00-11.00am

At: 37 Albert Parade, Ashfield, (Sydney)*

A blend of guided meditations and rhythmic chanting, this is a restorative and relaxing practice that increases ability to focus. Shamatha is the Tibetan term for single pointed meditation. This can involve concentrating on one thing such as one's breath, a picture of a deity, or a blue flower. The purpose is to increase our ability to concentrate and focus. Without this ability, we cannot deepen our practice or gain the deepest understanding of key Buddhist teachings. All are welcome to attend.
  • Green Tara practice (Buddha of Compassionate Action)
First Sunday of the month, 9.00-10.00am

At: 37 Albert Parade, Ashfield (Sydney)*
  • Chenrezig practice (Buddha of Compassion)
Alternate Tuesdays (see our Calendar), 7.30pm-8.30pm

At: 37 Albert Parade, Ashfield (Sydney)*
  • Vajrasattva/Medicine Buddha practice
Alternate Tuesdays (see our Calendar), 7.30pm-8.30pm

At: 37 Albert Parade, Ashfield (Sydney)*

Vajrasattva practice is for mental and physical purification. It is the most power- ful purification practice we can do in our daily life.
Medicine Buddha practice is not only a very powerful method for healing and increasing healing powers both for self and others, but also for overcoming inner sickness such as our negativity, attachment, ignorance, etc.
